The word Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel, circle or center. Chakras are part of a connected energy system within the body and refer to one of seven points within this energy system.
Each energy point acts like a wheel, which rotates and vibrates with energy. The higher the frequency of vibration, the more balanced your chakras are. These chakras are located inside our body at a particular distance from each other, the lowest chakra being at the base of the spine and the topmost one in the center of our skull.
Chakras are associated with the 5 basic elements of our existence.
• Root chakra (Muladhara) – Earth (Prithivi),
• Sacral chakra (Svadhisthana) – Water (Jala)
• Solar plexus chakra (Manipura) – Fire (Agni),
• Heart chakra (Anahata) – Vayu (Vayu)
• Throat chakra (Vishuddha) – Ether/Space (Akash).
• Third eye chakra (Ajna) – Maha Tattva, supreme element which is the source of all other elements
• Crown chakra (Sahasrara) – beyond all elements.
Root Chakra (Muladhara)
The root chakra is located at the base of the spine and is associated with our sense of stability, being grounded, and our connection to the physical world. It represents our basic survival instincts and provides the foundation for our other chakras. When balanced it creates a sense of security, confidence and stability. An imbalance in this chakra can lead to feelings of fear, insecurity, or restlessness.
Sacral Chakra (Swadhisthana)
The Sacral Chakra is located below the navel. This chakra is associated with the ability to experience passion, joy and pleasure. A balanced Sacral Chakra promotes healthy relationships, creativity, and emotional well-being. The imbalance may manifest as emotional instability, sexual issues, or a lack of creativity.
Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipur)
Located in the upper abdomen, the solar plexus chakra governs our personal power, self-esteem, and confidence. It is thought to be the seat of our will and self-identity. A balanced solar plexus chakra gives us the power to pursue our goals, make confident decisions, and assert ourselves. An imbalance in this chakra can result in low self-esteem, lack of motivation, or difficulty setting boundaries.
Heart Chakra (Anahata)
The heart chakra is located in the center of the chest and represents love, compassion, and emotional well-being. This chakra is associated with our ability to give and receive love, form meaningful relationships, and experience forgiveness. When balanced, the heart chakra promotes feelings of love, empathy, and inner peace. The imbalance may manifest as issues of trust, resentment, or difficulty making emotional connections.
Throat Chakra (Vishuddha)
Located in the throat area, the Throat Chakra is associated with our communication, self-expression, and truthfulness. It governs our ability to express ourselves authentically and to speak the truth. When balanced, the Throat Chakra enables clear and effective communication, both verbal and non-verbal. The imbalance may cause difficulty expressing oneself, fear of public speaking, or hearing problems.
Third Eye Chakra (Ajna)
The third eye chakra is located on forehead in the center of our both eyebrows. It is associated with intuition, insight and spiritual awareness. It represents our ability to see beyond the physical realm and understand higher truths. A balanced Third Eye Chakra enhances our intuition, inner knowing and spiritual connection. An imbalance can result in a lack of clarity resulting in making decisions difficult.
Crown Chakra (Sahasrara)
The Crown Chakra is located at the top of the head and represents our spiritual connection and higher consciousness. It is often associated with divine wisdom, enlightenment and oneness with the universe. When balanced, the Crown Chakra promotes a sense of connection to something greater than ourselves and a deeper spiritual awareness. An imbalance can lead to feelings of isolation, spiritual disconnection, or closed-mindedness.
